Our Programmes

We currently follow the Australian curriculum: Australia’s Early Year’s Framework “Belonging, Being & Becoming” and the Montessori early years curriculum.

Curriculum

Internationally recognized for fostering child-centred, respectful, holistic and excellent learning environments, Montessori Education focuses on the development of the whole child.

Our kindergartens incorporate Montessori philosophy into all areas of school life to encourage independent, confident, creative, respectful, empathic, intelligent, problem solving citizens.

Recently used as the framework guidelines for Chinese public school kindergartens, Montessori pedagogy has proven, over more than 100 years of worldwide usage, that it is the best early childhood system for healthy growth and societal development.

Children who are exposed to Montessori Education in the early years are typically:

Independent, Confident, Responsible, Empathic, Self-Aware, Curious, Problem Solving, Creative, Cooperative, Self-regulated And…. LOVE learning!

Belonging, Being & Becoming

Sky Avenues International Kindergarten follows the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia: ‘Belonging, Being, Becoming’. This is the national Framework used by all kindergartens and early childhood education centres across Australia.

The Framework has been specifically designed to ensure that all children in an early education setting experience quality teaching and learning in a safe and secure environment. It has specific emphasis on play-based learning and recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development. The framework focuses on five Learning Outcomes to produce well-rounded, intelligent and confident learners who wish to know more about the world around them and understand different cultures.

The five Learning Outcomes are:
1.Children have a strong sense of identity
2.Children are connected with and contribute to their world
3.Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
4.Children are confident and involved learners
5.Children are effective communicators

The framework also emphasizes the importance of being responsive to children within the classroom. Our teachers are all skilled at providing learning that is tailored to the individual – they are flexible in providing some activities that are student-initiated. The Framework promotes challenging children’s thinking, giving them opportunities to explore ideas, providing open-ended questioning and using guided learning.

Outbound

We strive to stimulate a passion for learning by giving our students a chance to learn about the world, from the world. By offering our students a chance to get out of the classroom and experience different environments where they will be challenged to connect the classroom to real life experience they make life long connections and a sincere appreciation to their community.
